Riots in Langworthy ward
I am appalled by the behaviour of the groups of youths involved in the riots in the Pendleton and Seedley areas of Salford last night. These youths have shown they have no respect for their community whatsoever.
It is good to hear that tough action will be taken against the perpetrators of these crimes.
Today it has been heartwarming to see that there are residents who want to show their respect and pride in Salford by helping to clear up the damage. They have been out and about with Cllr Warmisham and myself plus councillors from other wards and senior council officers and partners such as Salix Homes and SALT.
I would like to thank everyone who turned out in Langworthy ward today for all their hard work and support.

Pendleton PFI Scheme
I am delighted that the Pendleton PFI Scheme has finally been approved by the coalition government but am frustrated by the delayed timescale.
This project should have been given the go ahead last October after the Comprehensive Spending Review but the government's insistence on re-submitting the value for money assessment has delayed the project by 12 to 18 months. Lets now get on with the job of creating a new, improved Pendleton.
